About

Julia Anwar McHenry is a research associate with the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer Control and Mentally Healthy WA at Curtin University conducting health promotion and preventive research and campaign evaluation.  Previous research experience includes comparison of the wellbeing outcomes of participants and spectators at sports and arts events, exploration of the role of the arts within Australian rural communities, compilation of baseline social indicators for regional mining communities, extensive literature review on Aboriginal housing shortage in regional centres, and survey development, analysis, and report writing. Julia’s teaching experience includes lecturing and demonstrating undergraduate units in regional development, urban and regional planning, human geography, and the arts in society and facilitating workshops in cultural planning evaluation, dance, and community music. Julia has previous experience in health promotion sponsorship, arts administration, and as an arts practitioner (music and dance).
