About
I'm currently a lecturer at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia.
I completed a PhD at the University of Western Australia's department of Political Science and International Relations in 2010. I am currently a board member of Electronic Frontiers Australia, and a member of the organising collective of the Bluestocking Institute.
My work focuses on how social movements are engaging in struggles to control knowledge in the Information Age. My dissertation looked at the opposition to genetically modified crops in India to filesharing, the free and open source software movement, and copyright activism, and understands these battles in the context of the broader movement for globalisation from below. My current research looks at the emergence of digital liberties activism, as well as at social movements more generally.
I am also interested in how to build digital media literacy, and how to use the Internet effectively in teaching.
